All Estate Open Days are free of charge in 2019
Thanks to the generosity of The Fiona Barker Memorial Fund, we are delighted to be able to offer all schools free places for estate visits. At the end of the day each class will be given a certificate of attendance and further information, together with a project which they can complete to further explore topics covered on their visit to the countryside. All of their work will be presented to Fiona’s family who will be able to see just how much their support has meant to the next generation of children. A small prize will be offered from Fiona’s fund for the best project of the year.
First Scottish Estate Day to take place in September
The CFE are delighted to announce that their first Scottish Estate Day will take place on the Ballintomb Estate in Grantown on Spey in September. This event will be run in partnership with The Royal Highland Education Trust and we very much look forward to working alongside them.
What is an Estate Open Day?
The opportunity for schools to visit country estates and for the children to learn about what is involved in the management of such an estate and to meet the people who work there. The Estate Day will incorporate many themes of core importance in the National Curriculum, particularly Geography, History, ESD, Science & Citizenship. In 2007, through our estate day programme and Countryside Live events, we introduced over 20,000 children and 650 teachers to the countryside.
