LOCATION: Thurlow Estate
The day will be centred at Hall Barn, Great Thurlow and will include demonstrations and visits to the following Estate activities:
Farming - The arable farming process including the machinery and the food production process from field to table. The livestock including the suckler herd and the sheep flock.
Woodland Management - Three demonstrations to show the full life cycle of the woodland from seed collection to timber processing, including the environmental benefit of active woodland management.
The Thurlow Foxhounds - A visit to the Hunt Kennels to meet the hounds and the working horses as well as the terrier man and his terriers and ferrets.
Gamekeeping - Game bird rearing, working retrievers and the environmental benefit of vermin control.

See how estates like Woburn have adapted to remain viable, yet preserve the beauty of the countryside.
The trails followed on the day will include:
Farming - crops and machinery from Woburn farms.
Deer - meeting the deer staff, identifying deer and learning about deer control.
Woodland - meeting a gamekeeper and foresters, identifying trees and seeing planting/felling in action.
